NURSING SERVICES

The nursing service at The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital forms an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team.

It comprises of Registered Nurses, who provide care of the highest standard and have specialist qualifications and experience in the spinal and neurological rehabilitation process, and also specialist care of the older physically disabled person.  They are supported in this work, by an experienced team of Healthcare and Rehabilitation Assistants, who are qualified to NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care.

In a supportive environment, they encourage patients to work towards their rehab goals, empowering them to reach their maximal potential for independence. The nurses and care team have specific expertise in all aspects of personal care and daily living, they provide support in the management of bowel and bladder problems, skin care to avoid pressure ulcers, wound care, nutrition etc. They also engage in developing good rapport in a friendly way to assist the patient to come to terms with the changes in their lives. They also participate in carrying out the ongoing therapy programmes designed by our Dietician, Speech and Language Therapist and Psychologist.
