Hydrotherapy

The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital has a purpose built 8.5 metre hydrotherapy pool heated to 34º C with suitable facilities for wheelchair users as well i.e. hoists for transfers and accessing the pool. It has resistance jets which can be used for a variety of more challenging exercises as well as jet massage.

Our Process

Hydrotherapy is a therapy programme that utilises the properties of water, designed by a specialist-trained therapist specifically for an individual to improve function. Warm water promotes circulation and provides a supportive, assistive and relaxed environment in which a person can carry out exercises or movements that are potentially harder or more aggravating on land. It also gives varying degrees of resistance, which can improve muscular strength and cardiovascular fitness.
