How The RT 300 Works
Electrodes stimulate muscles
Small sticky pads (electrodes) are placed on your legs (and sometimes glutes or arms). These send tiny electrical pulses to wake up your muscles and make them contract.
Pedaling begins
Even if you can’t move your legs, the RT300 helps them pedal a stationary bike. This mimics a natural cycling motion
Engaging your brain
Even though the bike is doing the work, your brain is still getting signals from your moving legs, travelling through your spinal cord. This can help with neuroplasticity and relearning (your brain making new connections), which may help with recovery over time.
Customised to your body’s movement
Once begun, the electrical stimulation is precisely timed with your body’s movement, allowing this to follow a normal pattern and adjusting to your own strength and endurance.
During high intensity, repeated activity, 300 muscle contractions can take place within 10 minutes. Depending on the type of session, 12 muscle groups are stimulated in your arm, or leg.
Benefits of The RT300
The psychological boost from being able to exercise brings confidence and a wish to exercise more, amplifying other advantages of RT300:
-
Comprehensive Use
The RT300 is accessible to everyone, including patients with paralysis, stroke, or other neurological conditions, regardless of their ability to move independently.
-
Improved Mobility
This therapy helps re-educate muscles, reduce stiffness, and improve range of motion while also increasing muscle mass.
-
A Broader Boost
By enabling movement where little or none was possible before, RT300 therapy enhances the effectiveness of other rehabilitation treatments.
Effective therapeutic tools provide a fresh start, going beyond just generating movement to offer deeper benefits in rehabilitation.
Starting Out With RT300
A personal assessment with our team helps determine whether the RT300 is the right choice for you while also identifying other therapies that may be beneficial.
The equipment is available to both inpatients and outpatients, with a therapist providing support and designing a personalised program. This ensures that your commitment leads to meaningful benefits for both body and mind.
RT300 therapy helps prevent or even reverse muscle wasting, stimulates neural activity, and restores the sensation of movement, bringing a sense of achievement and joy, which is essential for progress.
Who Can Benefit?
The RT300 can benefit a wide range of individuals, especially those with limited or no voluntary movement due to neurological or muscular conditions. It helps activate and strengthen muscles, improve circulation, and support rehabilitation.
People with spinal cord injuries – helping maintain muscle mass, reduce spasms, and stimulate nerve activity, even for those with complete paralysis.
Stroke patients – helping in muscle re-education, improving circulation, and helping regain movement and strength.
Patients with brain injuries or neurological disorders – Encouraging neuroplasticity (the brain’s ability to adapt and form new connections).
