About The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital

A place where history and modernity combine, to bring wellbeing and exceptional medical treatment.

An Established Philosophy

Patients will naturally appreciate the multi-million pound refurbishment of our hospital. Creating facilities and standards of care in Aylesbury to rival any hospital in the country.

The spirit of a hospital also matters and the Royal Bucks long history helps. An 18th century country house is still visible, with new wings added in 1832, to a design overseen by Florence Nightingale.

As part of her Golden Jubilee celebrations and in thanks for treating the Prince of Wales, Queen Victoria bestowed the Royal title in 1887. Lord Rothschild later laid the foundation stone for a new wing.

In 1948, the hospital transferred to the NHS, before returning to the private sector in 1997, as a specialist spinal care unit.

This valuable use was taken forward by the Affinity Group in 2013 and now, by Akessa Healthcare. The rehabilitation centre updated, alongside the creation of a state of the art private hospital.

Comprehensive Treatment

At the Royal Bucks, or our sister hospital during refurbishment, every possible medical facility is available to patients.

  • In House Diagnostics

MRI, x-ray, ultrasound and endoscopy are provided by our skilled team. Offering patients an immediate, accurate diagnosis and prompt treatment where needed.

  • Medical Treatment

Consultant led care and individual treatment plans are at the centre of each decision. Ongoing support is provided, from physiotherapy, to advising on the future.

  • Surgical Facilities

Experienced consultant surgeons and modern theatres offer safe, effective surgery. Led by an emphasis on minimally invasive treatment and quick recovery.

Levels Of Patient Care

A welcoming environment and individual patient care reduce stress, contributing to good physical and psychological health.

  • Dedicated Staff

Every member of staff contributes in a hospital, from cleanliness to direct treatment. Our team are well supported and chosen because of their interest in patient welfare.

  • Private En-suite Rooms

Having ample space and feeling comfortable matters to patients, or their visitors. As do enjoying privacy and the facilities you would expect from a first rate private hospital.

  • Freshly Cooked Meals

There is no reason for food not to be nutritious and pleasurable in a hospital. Our Head Chef and well equipped kitchen offer patients, or guests fine meals and ample choice.
