Bio
Dr Giovanni Luigi De Maria (MD, PhD) is a consultant interventional cardiologist providing comprehensive cardiac care across the entire spectrum of heart conditions, with a specific higher specialty in managing chest pain (angina and heart attacks) and arterial hypertension. He offers NHS care at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and welcomes private patients at the Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital.
His practice spans from routine Cardiology check-ups to accurate diagnostics (ECG, echocardiography, ambulatory ECG/Blood Pressure monitoring, stress ECG and advanced coronary imaging) – through to minimally invasive treatment including coronary angiography, angioplasty and stent implantation. He has additional expertise in diagnosis and management of microvascular angina and has expertise renal denervation for resistant hypertension, running the dedicated clinical service at the oxford Heart Centre.

Research & Training
Alongside clinical work, Dr De Maria holds an active academic role as Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer on Interventional Cardiology at University of Oxford. with He has an active research programme in tratement of heart attack and microvascular dysfunction with over 170 publications in highly impacted international peer reviewed journals. He is also a committed trainer and supervisor, mentoring junior doctors, PhD students and cardiology trainees in evidence-based practice, catheter-based procedures and clinical research.
