He went on to complete a two-year skull base fellowship at Barts and The Royal London Hospital, before continuing his career in spinal surgery at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London. These experiences have given Mr Shariati vast knowledge of intradural and extradural tumours, as well as transnasal and transoral endoscopic approaches to the upper cervical spine and skull base for cervical pathology.
He further advanced his expertise by completing a spinal fellowship at the prestigious spinal unit within Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. Prior to joining the Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, he worked as a consultant spinal surgeon at the University Hospital of North Midlands, Sheffield Hospitals, and Frimley Park Hospital.
Throughout his career, he has gained extensive experience across the full spectrum of complex spinal surgery, encompassing degenerative disease, deformity, trauma, infection, spinal tumours, spinal cord injury, and advanced percutaneous and endoscopic techniques. He remains deeply committed to advancing the field of spinal surgery through the adoption of innovative technologies while actively contributing to clinical education and the development of spinal services.
