What is a Gastroscopy?

A gastroscopy (also known as an upper GI endoscopy) is a diagnostic procedure that examines the esophagus, stomach, and upper part of the small intestine. A thin, flexible tube with a camera (endoscope) is carefully inserted through the mouth, allowing our specialists to detect abnormalities, take biopsies, and provide a precise diagnosis.

Gastroscopy Consultants

Our consultant gastroenterologists and specialist surgeons are highly experienced.

A gastroscopy can be a hugely helpful diagnostic procedure but can also be a little daunting. Our team will be with you throughout, to ensure you feel confident and know exactly what to expect.
