Dr. Alexander Rouse is a Consultant Physician in Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Medicine, also serving as Paediatric Lead at the National Spinal Injuries Centre, Stoke Mandeville and Clinical Lead of the London Paediatric Spinal Cord Injury Network. With managerial, research, and teaching interests in spinal injuries, he has particular expertise in ventilation, acute care, perioperative medicine, and paediatric rehabilitation. He graduated from Imperial College London with an Honours BSc in Medical Sciences with Management in 2010 and Hull York Medical School (HYMS) in 2013. His postgraduate qualifications include MRCP London, and a Diploma in Child Health from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.

Research & Training
Dr. Rouse is actively engaged in both clinical practice and academic pursuits. His academic output includes publications and presentations on critical topics such as war-related spinal cord injuries, ventilation in spinal cord injury populations, and clinical early warning scores. His involvement in several National Institute for Health and Care Excellence committees in relation to spinal cord injury patients underscores his commitment to patient care. Dr Rouse also serves as Clinical Guidelines subcommittee chair for the International Spinal Cord Society Paediatric Special Interest Group.
Dr. Rouse’s dedication to medical education is evident through his various engagements including as Clinical Tutor for Oxford University Graduate Entry Medicine programme, Consultant for the World Health Organisation and as a General Medical Council recognised trainer teaching healthcare professionals and trainees from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, he is Medical Lead of the Spinal Tracheostomy Airway Recovery Training course, where he contributes to enhancing clinical skills and patient care standards.
